Nike - The very utterance of shoes does transport one to the terrain of Nike; such is the popularity of the international footwear brand. It has been rightly said that shoes does speak volume about one's personality and Nike shoes proves it right.

Nike Inc., an NYSE listed Fortune 500 company, is the brainchild of Bill Bowerman and Philip Knight. There is an interesting story behind the founding of the partnership company in 1964. Knight, after completing his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, California, set out on a world tour. His entrepreneurial spirit took shape during the tour with securing of distribution rights (for western USA) for Onitsuka Co.'s (of japan) Tiger running shoes. It took over a year for the shoe samples to be shipped to Knight. He immediately mailed two pairs to his coach Bill Bowerman hoping to gain a sale in addition to an influential endorsement. Bowerman not only accepted the order but also offered to become a partner and design better shoes. And thence the grand journey began.
